The Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA), has proposed a regulation to clear coffee of its toxic stigma.
The decision follows a review of more than 1000 studies published by the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) that found “inadequate evidence” that drinking coffee causes cancer.

Craig Simon of Veneziano Coffee makes Semi Finals of WBC
Craig Simon of Veneziano Coffee Roasters will compete in the Semi Finals of the 2018 World Barista Championship (WBC) on 22 June.
Craig competed in the first round of heats on 21 June at World of Coffee in Amsterdam, taking to station three with a 15-minute routine that had the judges drinking their milk beverages with straws and swirling Craig’s signature beverage like they were at a wine bar.

COE Guatemala continues despite volcano eruption
The Alliance for Coffee Excellence (ACE) commenced its 14th edition of the Cup of Excellence (COE) in Guatemala City on 4 June despite the Fuego volcano eruption.

Dining a top priority for domestic tourist, survey finds
Data from the most recent National Visitor Survey (NVS) released today has shown an increase in domestic tourists’ overnight spend on restaurant and takeaway meals, both in terms of the dollar amount and as a proportion of overall expenditure.
For the year ending March 2018, domestic tourists spent $10.6 billion on meals from restaurants and takeaway food outlets, up from $9.7 billion for the corresponding 12 months in 2017. This represented percentage growth of 9.3 per cent year-on-year.
