WCE confirms World Roasting Championship for 2017

World Coffee Events (WCE) has announced that the World Coffee Roasting Championship (WCRC) will take place at the Hotelex show in Guangzhou, China in December 2017.

In April 2016, Alexandru Niculae of Romania won the WCRC.

The competition event debuted 2013 in Nice, France. In this three-stage event, competitors are evaluated on their performance evaluating the quality of green coffee (coffee grading), developing a roasting profile that best accentuates the desirable characteristics of that coffee, and on the ultimate cup quality of coffees roasted.

The other World Coffee Championship events for 2017 are as follows:

  • World Barista Championship.  9 – 12 November 2017 at Cafe Show, Seoul, South Korea.
  • World Latte Art, World Brewers Cup, World Coffee in Good Spirits, and World CupTasters Championship. 13 – 15 June, Budapest, Hungary
  • World Coffee Roasting Championship. December 2017 at Hotelex, Guangzhou, China.

In other WCE news, the Competition All-Stars Tour Asia will take place for its third year from November to December 2016.

All-Stars is an opportunity for top competitors to engage with coffee show attendees the world over in everything from mini-challenges and quiz shows to latte-art tutorials.

The winners of the first ever World Barista Championship Team Competition will also appear at All-Stars Seoul, taking place at Café Show from 10 – 13 November 2016.

The All-Stars event will then travel to Taiwan’s International Coffee Show from 18 – 21 November 2016, Shanghai’s Café Show from 7-9 December, 2016, and Guangzhou, China at Hotelex from 12-14 December, 2016
